Practicing the routine - 3 weeks to go!!!

So finally decided on order of steps for my routine. It was last 2 steps before the double shuffle I couldn't decide the order on.

But I think this order works best as it helps re balance me before *dramatic music* the double shuffle.
I've tried different order before
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aCtIbc9REY

But it just didn't work for me. My brain wants me to do it in order I learned the steps. lol!

Routine:
1 - 1st Schottiche
2 - 1st Schottiche Progression
3 - 2nd Scottiche
4 - 2nd Scottiche Progression
5 - Double & Single Heels
6 - 3rd Scottiche
Double Shuffle

I'm going to start slower too or else I'll speed up too much by the end and double shuffle will be epic fail.
I keep telling myself the double shuffle is just counting to 8 three times then a break on each foot. So I'll probably be muttering under my breath on the day. Saying steps as I do them is something I've taken from lindy hop classes. It does help. The problem is to say it in my head rather than out loud when there's an audience. lol!

A quick update for October

Yes folks, I'm still here. Been trying to work out a 'routine' I can remember. lol! So far this is as far as I've got 6 steps. Still not there with the double shuffle. So I've not tried to add it in yet.

And no music this time. I need to re-record a hornpipe enough times through at the right speed.
I had to record this all in one go as I had limited time, hence the little edit at the end. If I'd have had more time I would have re-recorded right from the beginning.

May 2012 - Update

I know I've been a little remiss with my posting over the year so far. But I don't want to be boreing you with repetitive posts. Hence why I try to focus on trying to get one post done a month with a little summary of what I've been up to.
Lets start with music...as since the workshop I've been trying my hand at waltz clog dance I've been trying to find a waltz I can play competantly (ideally in key of G) that 'fits' and isn't boring. This is proving to be quite tricky.
In other news next month will be the first anniversary of my starting to learn clog. So I shall have to think up something clever to post to commemorate the event.

Today I decided to do a few videos.
Firstly went over some of the steps I struggled with when I started...

First Schottiche Progression

Second Schottiche Progression

I also had a go at a step I've not tried until now. Umpas.
That will leave just the twizzles I haven't had a go at in the beginner section yet.

Update 26/7/2011

I know been a bit quiet...been busy practicing.
Actually managed to just keep up with the full speed bit of the First Schottiche video. So had to re record the track fast so I could make a new video at speeded up pace. Bit wobbly in places.

Here is First Scottiche Progression. Which is ...a work in progress...I have a tendency to forget where I am and get all the right steps in the wrong places.

Comments welcome.

Update 10/7/2011

So writing again...Thought I'd put up a video of where I am so far. I have been experimenting with trying the same steps to different tunes...but it doesn't work. My brain gets distracted by thinking 'ooh, what's that tune' instead of counting steps. lol!

Here is the first schottiche (progression) as you can see work in progress. Haven't started adding music yet either.

And the second schottiche. Which I'm struggling not to fall off the board with at the moment. I have to try not to move around the board so much (including narrowly near the edge).
They are both still needing practice and are a bit wobbly. Trying to read the steps and do them might be a factor.

progression...

So currently trying 1st Schottiche Progression - Having to stand on board facing the other way so I can hop shuffle and still stay on the board.

Second Schottiche - worked out there's a fine line between stepping off the board and stepping on my toes. lol!

Sat and 'walked through' third schottiche as well.
